Top mounts are components which make up part of many suspension systems and whose main function is to reduce the transmission of vibrations from the suspension and the shock absorber to the body structure.

Generally they are fixed directly onto the body structure, making them very important elements for reducing vibrations in the passenger compartment.

In addition to vibrations which transmit through the shock absorber, they also reduce those which transmit through other suspension elements like spring stoppers and seats.

The top mounts have a structural function in the suspension through their metal fastenings which require a strong and reliable design.
